Study Space

Study Space is located in the Kline Faculty Dining Area (the other side of Kline). We provide a quiet space open to all students, free coffee, and during finals week – we cover the hours that the library isn’t open.

Study Space is happy to announce our newest branch, Olin Monitors. There will be an Olin monitor stationed in the lobby of Olin to direct students to empty quiet and public use classrooms.

Hours of Operation:

Study Space runs 7 days a week, from 9PM – 3AM, unless there is an event in the space, a power outage or really really really inclement weather.

Olin monitors will be stationed in the lobby of Olin from 7pm-11pm Sunday-Thursday.

How to use Study Space:

1. Go to the space (enter through the faculty dining hall doors, closer to the shuttle stop than the regular Kline entrance) , and set yourself up. There’s plenty of outlets and WiFi in the space, and the monitor continuously makes coffee*.

* Please do not attempt to make the coffee yourself. We pay monitors to do that, and it generally results in a mess and/or bad coffee if they are not the ones making it.

How it works:

Anyone can use this service. We have one monitor in for each 3 hour shift, and that monitor makes coffee, answers questions, makes sure that space is spotless and not being misused. The monitor is in place to help us make sure that the space is available for student use, as it is technically under operation by Chartwells. Please respect the space, as it helps us maintain our good relationship with the company. Chartwells provides coffee for the space, so please keep their generosity in mind when in any of the Spaces!

Who runs Study Space:

Ariadne Sinnis-Borozikas is the current Director of Spaces. For questions, comments and concerns, please email bsrg@bard.edu.
