The Student Judiciary Board is concerned first and foremost with obtaining a factual account of the event in question. Individuals submitting statements should include all details that they feel are relevant, while presenting circumstances and events in a concise manner. While the events in question may be of a very emotional nature, reasonable effort should be made to maintain a civil tone. Angry, argumentative or confrontational statements do little to aide either the parties involved or the SJB itself.

Be as specific as possible about the times at which various events occurred.

  • Provide names of other possible witnesses
  • Be upfront and honest. If you were under the influence, don't attempt to conceal that fact.
  • Take your time and write clearly.
  • Don't feel as if you have to defend yourself or others. Just tell your side of the story.
  • Submit your statement within the time specified so that the SJB has ample time to review it.
  • If you are uncertain about what to include in your statement address your questions to the SJB chair
