this is a simpler path
the wood planks over heat
like sidewalks for the sewers
the smell of sewage and sand
the step that moves slightly to the right
follows the one that slides to the left
sand between every toe
stand and walk like dogs
nosing in the garbage

					discussions of the tide
					the stones become pebbles
hours after dry feel the crests
					that undertow legs to positions
					one beside the next wobbling
blasted in the giant sand bath
and floating to give the light
					to none none is fallacy
between the rocks and the point

this system that sees
the faults of northern skin
and punishes with burn
and tires while it excites
reminders of lines and limits
origin of wet garments
the miles of the coast
amplitude of the moon
and time rate of change over distance
